Where do I go when I get there?
Brentwood is not so big that you will walk around without meeting someone. People meet and greet one another in the hallways and the Sanctuary and Chapel Narthex. Be sure to stop by one of our Welcome & Information Centers located in the south narthex outside our Sanctuary and in the north narthex outside the Chapel.  The Welcome & Information Centers are staffed by our Andrew Ministers who are glad to answer any questions you may have. You can also ask an usher or greeter for information about our church; they will even help assist you in finding a seat if you like.

What are the services like?
Because our congregation is diverse, our services include congregational readings, music (congregation and choir), prayers, and sermons following in the Methodist tradition. Our services are neither “high church” nor "contemporary," but focus on communicating and sharing the truths of the Bible and God's direction in our lives. Our Saturday night service is casual in dress and traditional in style. It is a great way to experience a smaller church atmosphere in a large church setting. Our 8:30 and 11:00 am Sunday morning services are traditional in music style and dress, the senior high Sonshine youth choir anchors the early service and the adult Chancel Choir the later one. The 9:45 am Sunday Awakening service is a unique blend and bridges between traditional and contemporary worship.  Our Monday night service, the Loop Nashville, is a ministry to young, single professionals in their 20s and 30s.

Do you have a nursery?
We have a nursery for all worship services for infants through 3 year olds. Special group childcare is available.

Do you have activities for teenagers?
Visit our youth website for all the exciting activities in Merge (7th - 8th grade) and Velocity (9th - 12th grade) youth ministries (www.bumcyouth.org).

What does your church believe?
Some of Methodism's essentials include the belief that Jesus is the Son of God who died that we might be saved. We believe he rose from the dead and lives today with God our Creator. We believe Jesus is the only source of our salvation - rituals, good works or membership in a particular denomination does not save us.

May I participate in communion?
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at both morning services. United Methodists practice open communion; all present may receive the sacrament if they so desire.

What if I prefer a smaller church?
The heart of BUMC is located in its family atmosphere. Getting involved in its various groups from Sunday School classes, ChristCare small groups, to Bible studies to special and regular programs and activities revolved around the Family Life Center. In these groups, you are able to participate and share with others who have similar interests or who are in the same age group. An Andrew Minister will be happy to talk with you and assist you in finding one or more small groups that best meets your needs or those of your family.

How do I join the church?
New members are received at the close of Sunday morning or Saturday evening services. If you wish to join, please fill out one of our "How to Join" cards located in the pews and come to the front during the last hymn. To talk with a minister about church membership, check "Wish to Join" on the registration pad and you will be contacted. We accept members by Vows, Transfers, and by Profession of Faith.

Want to know more about Brentwood United Methodist Church?
Beginning January 2009 we will be hosting "Newcomers Coffee with a Pastor"  to help you discover more about BUMC, our demonation and how to best get connected.

Will I be expected to give money?
The ministries of Brentwood UMC are supported not only by the voluntary financial contributions of its members but also by giving their time, talents and services. There are many ways you can serve and support the church, but as a first time visitor it is not an expectation.
