Domestic Abuse

Domestic Violence is not just about hitting.  It can take many forms through the use of power and control.  Abuse can look like coercion and threats, intimidation, isolation, minimizing or denying a partner’s feelings, and blaming the victim for abusive behavior.  If you or a loved one are afraid of a partner’s temper, here are some helpful Contacts:  Rev. Funeral Teams

Funeral teams currently consist of five members with one member acting as captain of a team.  This is the person that is contacted when there is a need and is responsible for contacting the other team members.  - more info



GraceNotes

GraceNotes is a ministry of care and encouragement for those going through difficult times, such as illness, grief and loss, or life transition.  Recipients receive inspiring and uplifting cards twice each month from caring volunteers who also pray for each recipient’s individual needs.  If you, or someone you know, need an extra measure of Christ’s love and hope through this ministry, contact Julie Donley, Administrative Assistant to Caring Ministries:  615.324.7254, .

Inclusivity Ministry

This ministry seeks to ensure the BUMC is a place where all people have a home to follow Christ.  The mission of this ministry is to provide care and support for those who are seeking to find and experience the love of Christ within a community of faith regardless of their sexual orientation, as well as provide resources for their family members and friends.  Contact Rev. Pastoral Hospital Visits

The Pastoral Staff of BUMC visits area hospitals on a regular and rotating basis during the week to offer prayer and spiritual support.  Lay visitors and Stephen Ministers visit on the weekends - more info

Sower’s Fund - Financial and Food Assistance

The Sower’s Fund assists families and individuals who are facing difficult financial situations by providing assistance in various forms primarily related to food, gas, housing and psychological care. Our hope is that the Sower’s Fund fulfills Christ’s call in Matthew 5:42 to give to those who ask. Our future hope is that out of these initial interactions we can build longer-term relationships that are centered on love of God and love of neighbor.
