Visitation Ministries



Altar Flower Ministry Volunteer
Help deliver and share a bouquet of the beautiful altar flowers with a home-centered church member. Teams work together to deliver on a monthly basis on Sunday after church or on Monday. YOU will be blessed by it! Contact Nancy Sullins or 615.373.2945.

Home-Centered Communion Ministry
Screened volunteers gather on the first Sunday of the month to take communion to our home-centered members and those who are in nursing homes.  For information, please contact Dr. Jeff Wilson at 615.324.8208 or .

Home-Centered & Nursing Home Visitation
Screened volunteers are paired with our home-centered members and those who are in nursing homes to share Christian love, extend fellowship and offer encouragement.  For information, please contact Dr. Jeff Wilson at 615.324.8208 or .

Hospital & Rehabilitation Facility Visitation
The Pastoral Staff of BUMC visits area hospitals on a regular and rotating basis during the week to offer prayer and spiritual support.  Lay visitors and Stephen Ministers visit on the weekends.  Hospitals do not inform the church when its members are admitted.  If you or a family member is hospitalized, please contact Julie Donley, Administrative Assistant to Caring Ministries:  615.324.7254, .  In the case of an emergency on the weekend or after regular church office hours, please contact the Pastor On Call at 615.969.3086 - Please leave a message and a Pastor will call you back.

Domestic Abuse
Domestic Violence is not just about hitting.  It can take many forms through the use of power and control.  Abuse can look like coercion and threats, intimidation, isolation, minimizing or denying a partner’s feelings, and blaming the victim for abusive behavior.  If you or a loved one are afraid of a partner’s temper, here are some helpful Contacts:  Rev. Parish Nurse Ministry
Treating body, mind, and spirit. The Parish Nurse Ministry (previously Patient Advocate Ministry) provides holistic health related services to individuals, family members, and neighbors.  Key services include:  counseling, patient advocacy, coordination of health related education,    connecting people with available community resources and nursing care facilities. Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers are members of our church who have received extensive training and provide confidential, one-to-one, Christian care to people who are dealing with health crises and other difficulties. Counseling Center
The BUMC Counseling Center is a unique collaboration between Brentwood Methodist Church and psychotherapists in private practice. The therapists at the BUMC Counseling Center are not employees of the church. They were recruited to relocate their practices to the Counseling Center in order to support BUMC's commitment to making mental health resources available for children, youth, adults, couples and families in Williamson County and the surrounding communities. Group Care



Cancer Support: Partners in Hope
Provides support to the people of Brentwood UMC and the community who have been diagnosed with cancer. Monthly meeting held on the second Saturday of each month as well as weekly Cancer Care Yoga classes.  Contact Jeanetta Fargo (615.339.4415 or ) for meeting time and location.

Career Transitions Support Group
CTSG's objective is to help people who are in-between jobs or looking for a career change.  We offer a different presentation every week focused on the latest job search techniques. CTSG is led by business professionals who have expertise in Nashville's job market and contemporary job search techniques. There is no charge for the services of CTSG. Click for more information

Memory Loss
Memory Loss Caregiver Respite: Sunny Day Club
Meets each Tuesday 11:00am - 2:00pm. Fellowship group for those who are experiencing the early stages of memory loss.  Club members must be able to care for and feed themselves, or caregivers may remain with them to care for their needs during the meeting. Alzheimer’s Encouragement Group
Meets second Tuesdays, 7:00pm in Room A389. A support group for caregivers, friends, and family of persons with Alzheimer’s and other memory loss. For information, please contact Sue Dowling 615.970.8393.

Transplant Support
Meets second Tuesdays, 7:00pm in room 390. Provides a supportive environment for all individuals impacted by transplantation.  We display the greater love of Jesus Christ by embracing, educating and empowering all those impacted by transplantation. We embrace this audience by providing emotional and spiritual support, counseling and encouragement. Facilitated forums, small group meetings and one-on-one get-togethers. Boundaries Support Class-Begins February 22, 2017, runs through April 19, 2017.
"What are boundaries and why do I need them?"  With Boundaries, you can take charge of your life, strengthen your character, expand your freedom, and improve relationships by learning how to set personal boundaries in life.  Learn a whole new way of successfully dealing with life's challenges by answering the questions and acting on the information that you learn in each session of class! Grief Support
Alive Hospice (www.alivehospice.org) offers grief support workshops four times a year at BUMC for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Adult ADHD/ADD Support Group
