Worship Readiness

Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belong to such as these.

Matthew 19:14

Worshiping God Together

We believe that children are an integral part of communal worship, and at BUMC we welcome children of all ages in all worship services, at all times. At ages 5-6, we believe that children are developmentally ready to attend  an entire worship service with their parents/families. While we know that children of this age may not comprehend all of the service, we do believe that their young minds are able to absorb some of the actions that we do corporately as the family of God. Worship Readiness is more about a child being ready to participate in certain acts of worship (such as singing and praying together), then it is about being ready to understand all that worship is about. Like all our milestones, Worship Readiness is the beginning of a journey in which a child can learn how worship is an integral part of our faith.
