DAILY READING

Acts 10:44-48
This weekend’s reading: Revelation 2:18-29

FIELD NOTES
Why do we limit God’s grace to those we deem worthy of it?  Admit it, you do this.  In today’s passage, we see Peter welcoming ALL into the family of God, when no one could bring any objections.  “They have received the same Spirit we have…” he says.

I wish we didn’t have this natural tendency to put people into categories.  I wish we didn’t naturally try to decide who is in and who is out.

By their fruit, you will know them.  Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control—these are our markers.  May we see the same Spirit in those who may be different from our predetermined ideas of who is in and who is out.  By their fruit, may we know them.  Amen.

QUESTIONS FROM THE FIELD

  • Who is in and out in your mind? Why?

PRAYER
May your doors be open to all who love you, God.  Amen.
