DAILY READING

Psalm 62:5-12

This weekend’s reading: Daniel 3:13-30

FIELD NOTES
In my late 20s, I had the opportunity to travel overseas as a teacher in Southeast Asia. For 3 years, I lived on the opposite side of the world, as far as you can get from what I had always known as my home. I was young, and I was wrestling with the concept of home. I felt called overseas, but because it was so unknown, it took a long time for it to feel like home. I missed the home I had always known, but I knew it was no longer the place that God wanted me to be. Home was always a safe place, and once I found myself away from my physical home, I had to rely fully on God for safety and strength.

God alone is our refuge. There are many scriptures that reference God as our refuge, our safety, our hiding place. When we know exactly where we can go to find safety and strength, it becomes so much easier to face whatever may come our way.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • How has God been a refuge in your life?
  • In what ways do you need God to be your refuge?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • What makes you feel safe?
  • Has there been a time when you have felt unsafe?

PRAYER GUIDE
God, you are our refuge and our strength. We ask that you continue to be our safe place, our hiding place, our refuge. Amen.
