Walking in the Light

December 27, 2017

DAILY READING

1 John 1:1-9

This weekend’s reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34

FIELD NOTES
Christ is light. In Him, there can be no darkness.

And yet, in this world, we know darkness well, don’t we? It pervades every aspect of our culture. From entertainment, to politics, to the way businesses are run—darkness it seems, is found to some degree everywhere.

And what do we do, as followers of Christ? Do we give the darkness power over us? Do we delight in the dark? Do we embrace it? I certainly hope not.

John promises us here, that when we walk in the light, we have true fellowship with each other, and the blood of Christ washes us clean of our sin. 1 John 1:9 says that if we confess our sin, we are forgiven and cleansed of our sin.

When we find ourselves in the darkness, the surefire way back into the light is to confess our sin. When we get overwhelmed, we confess.

May you walk in the truth that confession brings us out of darkness and into the light, and the light is where we want to be. Amen.
